haunt by StonedFox
I wanted to give everyone an at home with StonedFox experience I think it will be very interesting to see how these songs change on different albums what stays and grows or goes away, some of them may never get another time to shine and I think that's a pretty cool concept
Some of the themes on this album are depression heartbreak addiction divorce loneliness and the fear that your mind may one day give up and begin to drag you into that darkness we call insanity.
If you look up the word haunt you come across two definitions
haunt
hônt,hänt/
verb
1. 1. (of a ghost) manifest itself at (a place) regularly."a gray lady who haunts the chapel"
noun
2. 1. a place frequented by a specified person or group of people." I revisited my old haunts
I think that both of these examples work extremely well to describe the album and what I've been through. At times I've been a ghost and I've been haunted by the past as of late. After my run in with the police and not being able to return to NYC it left me no choice but to move back to my lovely hometown in Canada. At the time I was filled with regret thinking my career was over and that the music wouldn't follow me! How crazy is that?
Also the idea of being haunted is something I think about and try to convey in many of my songs and I think you'll be able to pick up on the main forces that were plaguing me during the recording process. The main thing for this album was to keep it very personal with little to no mixing and minor effects, just a rough home idea of the songs and whats at the heart of them. This is a huge deal to me because while I am depressed nothing I do is good enough to me so much so I would record one note and start over again and again which led me nowhere! So to be able to just hit record and accept whats on the tape has been a beautiful experience in itself, also even having the confidence to try playing piano and record it almost brought me to tears at times its such an amazing instrument that you can really feel when you play!
At the end of it all if I can help one person by them hearing something in this album and they go "hey I feel that way too and yeah its awful sometimes but I'm not alone" then I've done my job. I just want people to be a little happier and love a little more while we are here.
